overwhelm you, sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to take a long walk. After 2 1/2 years this is what I found. These photographs, as ironic as it may be, are my way of dealing with the death of a loved one and acknowledging what can come after it. In an attempt to fill a void I collect these mundane objects that bring humor and light into my everyday life. Their vibrant colors and often odd placements allow my mind to escape questions and concerns from the people surrounding me. These colorful and endearing misfits help lift the weight of overbearing emotions. In a world where little is certain, I am able to use my formalistic framing to include or exclude anything I wish. By taking full control over the composition of my universe, I am able to make it safe, lighthearted and serene. The smallest item can now have the largest significance, a puddle of dirty rainwater acts as a gateway through the Looking-Glass; a painted electrical box provides an escape to a parallel universe. With these fun and humorous objects surrounding me, I am able to ground myself in optimism, rein in the chaos of life, and embrace the uncertainty that inevitably comes with it. Although they are often abandoned, dismissed or overlooked these tokens are still able to give me joy and pleasure. This is my journey from losing to finding.
